Wedding Wednesday: Should Couples Make a Decision at Wedding Fairs?

Would you take a major decision at a wedding fair? I’ve never been the type to attend fairs looking for something to buy. Somehow I’ve always felt the atmosphere is prime for impulse buys which I’m prone to anyway.

Having said that I will be attending a wedding fair at Debenhams Woking this weekend. I have been invited to showcase chocolate wedding favours and I’m excited by the opportunity to meet brides-to-be. I love weddings and every thing that leads up to them. Yes, I’m a hopeless romantic.

Anyway, back to the question at hand. Should couples make a decision at wedding fairs? In my opinion, no. Couples should go and see what is available to them. They should take the opportunity to ask questions – lots of them. Don’t be tempted to take a card at every stall. I’ll be disappointed if you don’t pick one from mine but I’ll understand if my products don’t fit your wedding plans. It could be you prefer cake as favours or potted plants.

There should be no pressure to make a decision at a wedding fair. If you’re interested in a service or product, pick up a card or brochure and leave your details so you can chat with the vendor later. You’ll be glad you took your time to make a decision and asked the relevant questions.

What has your experience been at fairs? Do you go to buy or just look around?
