What I Do When I Fail

Melted Chocolate

From www.marthastewartweddings.com

So back in July almost a year ago, I set myself a challenge to post every day till Christmas a new design I had come up with. However, it wasn’t to be so as I fell terribly ill and often wondered if I would see the light of the following day.

I was disappointed in myself and I knew there was no way I would start again. Why? That fiery purpose was lacking. Why did I start in the first instance? Who was benefiting from it? Was anyone missing it? Had anyone asked for it?

This was not about beating myself up but it was about taking stock of what had happened, learning from it and moving on.

We learn every day and it’s important that we don’t lose sight of purpose with any task we undertake. It’s easier said than done but it is important to start with the end in mind. Is it all about you or about me? Does your purpose hold enough fire to see you through?

It’s also one of the reasons I decided to take part in blog boost. I know certain people enjoy reading this blog so I will not stop updating it. I will focus on its purpose and strengthen my blogging muscle for the next 31 days.

I will centre my posts on feedback I’ve received from readers – what they like to read about.

What if I fail to blog every day? Well, I don’t plan to but if I should I will remember my purpose and start right from where I stopped.

  1. I love your attitude! Sometimes we’re not going to be perfect and we just pick up where we left off and start again… and it’s OK!

Thanks Susan. It is one of the facts of life. Failure is never final and success is never ending.

  2. Great advice for any goal you set for yourself. When you fall down, get back up again.

Thanks Marta. Never stay down – as that story goes ‘shake it off’ then step on it to rise higher. Thank you so much for stopping by.
